John Kelleher - Woodworker
The furniture I design and create is based almost entirely in American tradition, specifically, the Shakers. They prided themselves in making objects that lasted generations and I see no reason to alter those philosophies. They also strove to make their work flow elegant and efficient. I employ a few power tools to speed the tedium up and produce better results than hand work. I also have a medium scale CNC (computerized) router to produce carvings.
I can produce cabinets for kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms, built in or modular. They can even be altered prefab cabinets, like Ikea cabinets with custom fronts. I am able to do large veneer glue ups with my 4 x 8 foot vacuum bag set up. Cabinets can also be made exclusively of hardwoods and finished to order.
My degree is actually in Fine Art. I studied painting at Washington University in St. Louis. I still enjoy making art, especially portraits in watercolor.
